NEW NEAR Project Idea

How about this for a NEAR project idea - A Grief Support Mission for our community?

I surveyed one church's approach and found this:

A Mission Statement:

The Bereavement Ministry of Springfield Baptist Church provides hope for those who are grieving the loss of a loved one. We endeavor to be a source of love, comfort, encouragement, and support as the bereaved journeys from mourning to joy.  

WHat Services They Provide

• We send sympathy and encouragement cards.
• We offer a listening ear and a caring presence.
• We pray for and with bereaved families.
• We call and and / or  visit families before funerals.
• We attend funeral services held at church and in community.
• We disseminate grief-related materials to educate families on grief recovery.
• We provide follow-up care following the funeral.
• We conduct  an annual memorial service.
• We conduct a weekly GriefShare Support group
  
  
  Maybe God is calling you or your Life Group to develop a Grief Support Ministry with a MISSIONAL focus. 

If God Could

If God can hang the stars on high,

Can paint the clouds that drift on by;

Can send the sun across the sky,

What could He do through you?

If He can send a storm through space,

And dot with trees the mountain’s face;

If He, the sparrow’s way can trace,

What could He do through you?

If God can do such little things

As count our hairs, or birds that sing,

Control the universe that swings,

What could He do through you?
